Real Bride Spotlight: Jordan’s 3rd Generation Vintage Wedding Gown at Whispering Pines Golf Club & Banquet Hall

Real bride Jordan, who looked radiant in her wedding gown that both her Mother and Grandmother also wore at their weddings, was married at Whispering Pines Golf Club & Banquet Hall in Pinckney, MI.

What was your wedding date?
June 11, 2022

What was your wedding location and venue name?
Pinckney, MI. Whispering Pines Golf Club & Banquet Hall.

Who is the designer of your wedding gown and where did you purchase it?
We think it was purchased a bridal shop in Dearborn, MI, in 1962. The designer and other details are lost to time.

When did you know your gown was “the one”?
Mom was getting her first communion dress from her hope chest for me to wear when I saw her wedding gown. When she told me it was also my grandmother’s dress, I knew then that I’d wear it for my own wedding.

What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
Holding my husband’s hand while two sandhill cranes flew through our ceremonial arch. It was a symbolic and poignant moment.

Why did you want to get your gown cleaned?
The dress is 100% silk and exceedingly delicate. There are stains, tears, and moth holes. My mom and I probably made it even more fragile with our alterations. I brought it in to be cleaned and an expert walked me through their recommendations on the spot. The biggest recommendation they had was to wear it as is and then return for preservation. That’s what I did. It’s not that I hope for another generation to wear the dress. I had it preserved because I wanted to give them the same special opportunity I had.

What made your wedding ceremony feel extra special?
My mom and aunts teared up when they saw me in my gown. They said I reminded them of my grandmother, who was one of my favorite people in this world. She was my godmother and passed away from cancer when I was a teenager. She was greatly loved and is dearly missed. Having her memory with us that day was everything to me.

Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned by Janet Davis Cleaners, a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
I did extensive online research and called around, looking for a cleaner that specialized in preserving vintage wedding gowns. I chose Janet Davis despite the long drive. It was highly reviewed, recommended, and had a long history.
