Janet Davis Cleaners has been family-owned and operated in the Metro-Detroit area since 1938.
We invest in the best equipment and latest technology. We thoroughly train our new team members, and we are constantly learning. This gives us the edge in removing difficult stains while keeping your items looking newer for longer. The bottom line is that we work hard and have the experience necessary to keep you looking great.

The Early Beginnings
Janet Davis Dry Cleaners of Dearborn opened on Michigan Avenue in 1959. Below are the photos taken of our third building change in the past.

1938
Janet Davis started Janet Davis Cleaners with the help of her father, Franklin Davis. The first location was in Highland Park, MI. This location closed in the mid-1970s.
1941
Janet Davis married Howard Hamilton. Howard took the business to the next level. Janet was great in the backroom, and Howard excelled at running and growing the company.
1950
Woodward location opened and has remained our headquarters to this day. Over the years, 3 additions have been made to the building.
1959
Janet Davis started Janet Davis Cleaners with the Dearborn location opened. This location closed in 1996 (still operates pickup and delivery here).
1964
Bloomfield location opened. This location closed in 2020 (still operates pickup and delivery here).
1973
Janet & Howard retired. Frank & Fred Hamilton, two of their sons, bought the business from their parents.
1977
Frank & Fred started The Original Pancake House in Southfield, MI.
1980
Frank left to run the Pancake House on his own, and Fred stayed to run the dry cleaners.
1997
Fred Hamilton retired. Dave Matthews bought the cleaners from Fred, his mother’s cousin. Dave grew up working in the business and owned Janet Davis Cleaners of Dearborn, and Pioneer Cleaners of Dearborn.
2006
Kyle Matthews joined the company as the Director of Marketing and Sales.
2020
We purchased the remaining assets/customers of MGM Cleaners, another storied Detroit dry cleaners with a long history.
2022
Currently operated by Kyle Matthews in Berkley location.

Kyle Matthews, the dedicated fifth-generation owner of Janet Davis Cleaners, is a proud Michigan State University honors graduate with a passion for his family and the community. Residing in Rochester Hills with his loving wife and two daughters, Kyle is committed to maintaining the exceptional quality and service that the company is known for. When he’s not leading the family business, Kyle embraces an active lifestyle, enjoying water skiing, snow skiing, and mountain biking.
Benny Barnes
Cleaning Specialist
Benny Barnes has been part of our team here at Janet Davis Cleaners for 30 plus years. He functions as our cleaner/spotter. He loves the challenge of returning a garment to its full glory. Benny enjoys spending time with his family as well as dedicating the balance of his free time as a pastor.
Latonya Giles
Wedding Gown Specialist
Latonya Giles is a second-generation staff member and has attained 18 years of service with Janet Davis Cleaners. She is one of the best high-end finishers in the business. She specializes in working with wedding and evening gowns made from silk with sequins, beads, and lots of tulle. When she isn’t at work you can catch her sitting on her back porch enjoying quiet evenings with her husband or visiting with her large family.
Linda Bazzell
Wedding Gown Coordinator
Linda Bazzell our wedding gown coordinator, came to us from the accounting and customer service and home health care industries. She likes to bring wedding gowns back to life after the wedding. She gets so much joy watching a bride realize that the dress she brought in with red wine and a hemline that was filthy is now back to its original condition as is possible. In her spare time, she knits, crochets and enjoys the newest addition to her family, a granddaughter.
Andrea Dyla
Customer Service Representative
Andrea Dyla has been with us for over five years as a customer service representative. She loves the great team environment. She is the mother of three grown men and spent many years dedicating her life to her boys many activities. Andrea is a people person who is genuinely interested in our awesome customers. When she is not here you will find her on the golf course, gardening or snow skiing.
Jenna Krieger
Customer Service Representative
Jenna Krieger, a Berkley resident, is a customer service representative. She appreciates the family friendly atmosphere of our workplace and enjoys the fast paced and variety of work each day. She loves Halloween and going to haunted houses. When she isn’t at work you may find her taking pictures of abandoned structures, imagining what life was like when it was inhabited.
